Babywearing

Babywearing promotes attachment:
  • Babywearing allows your baby to trust you and feel more secure which will lead to a healthy, independent child later on
  • Babywearing reduces crying- in African countries where traditional tribes wear theit babies all the time, there is no such thing as colic. Babies who are carried by their mommies are happy babies.
  • Babywearing is convenient- you can stay close to your baby while having your hands free to accomplish other daily tasks including looking after older children, cooking, etc.

Babywearing makes breastfeeding on the go easy:
  • While wearing your baby, it is possible to breastfeed hands free and discreetly in public.

Babywearing means less babygear to carry around:
  • While out and about there is no need for a stroller, you can simply wear your baby. This means that stairs are no longer an obstacle.
  • Having the baby on you also means that there is less chance of harm done to your baby (kidnapping, stroller rolling away)

Babywearing is good for baby’s mental and physical development:
  • Mental development: Babies spend more time in a quiet alert state, which is the best state for learning
  • Physical development: Being close to the mother and hearing her heartbeat will help baby adapt to life outside the womb better
