Please note: We are currently under construction! By May 1st, 2007, we should have our discussion board up and some other interesting things!
Babies need physical contact just as they need food, air, warmth, and shelter. Babywearing helps parents and other caregivers give babies all the closeness they need, while still having hands free for other tasks. NINO’s mission is to promote the art and science of babywearing to help make it a universally accepted and supported practice.
Many people feel that there's a need for a babywearing movement: a way to teach caregivers that all babies would benefit from being worn. That is NINO's primary goal: to promote babywearing by educating the general public about its benefits.
Please take a moment and view our calendar to see when the next KanagaMamas gathering will be. We meet often so check back often!
It is especially necessary for the parental generation of the human species to fully understand what the immaturity of its infants really signifies: that the infant is still continuing its gestation period, passing from uterogestation to exterogestation. Among the most important of the newborn infant's needs are the signals it receives through the skin, the first medium of communication with the outside world.
